AIDA courses

A volunteer standards body. Beginners start at AIDA1, then AIDA2.

This wiki is not a course. Water skills belong with a qualified instructor and a trained buddy.

AIDA1 is an introduction. You should be 18, or 16 with consent, and able to swim 100 m without stopping. The course is about one day. Depth is capped at 10 m. You learn the first water skills and how to stay with a buddy.

AIDA2 is the fuller first card. About three days. Theory, pool, and depth. Certification asks for a 40 m bifin swim, a two-minute static hold, a 12 m bifin dive, and buddy skills. Depth sessions stay at or under 20 m.

Find an active AIDA instructor. This page does not teach the water work.
